Do we really need to see a 12 year old getting raped?

First it was horse sex, now its children being raped at the Sundance Festival. What is the world coming to? Who is the creep who thought about this movie and thought, “Man, I could make out a cinematic masterpiece out of this preteen child being raped.” Seek therapy, dude. Really.
And whose parents let Fanning be part of this movie? Sure; she is in everything, from War of the Worlds to Taken (a very excellent mini series - you should rent or buy it!), to tv shows. Everywhere. But how much are they trying to milk out of this child?
I think the only people who would want to plop down $12 to see this movie, buy a Coke and popcorn (possibly a hot dog!) to watch are currently surfing MySpace and Yahoo chat rooms looking for actual kids to pick up. Must movie directors give them tips?
